Joe Parker Cooper of Smithville, Texas passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the age of 72. He was born December 8, 1947 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to parents Russell Fredrick Cooper and Lula Mae (Cornett) Cooper. Most of his childhood Joe and his family lived in Pasadena, Texas where he attended school and graduated in 1966 from Pasadena High School.
Joe Met the love of his life, Beverly (Gilmore), and they married in 1967. The two of them resided in Smithville, Texas where they raised three children, Lyle, Matthew and Renee’. Although Joe was raised as a member of the Catholic Church, after he and Beverly married, they joined the Methodist Church where Joe became a Mason at The Nixon Masonic Lodge #421 located in Smithville. Joe also served as a School Board Trustee with the Smithville ISD School Board for many years. As a former member of the School Board, he had the privilege of presenting many graduation diplomas to family members and friends he considered family.
Joe was not one to be indoors to long. He enjoyed being outside and busy. Joe was best known to many for his love for fishing. He had the privilege of sharing that passion with his children and grandchildren and loved every minute of it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lula Mae Cooper and his Brother, Fredrick Cooper.
Joe is survived by his wife, Beverly Cooper; His three children, Lyle Parker Cooper, Matthew Trent Cooper and his wife, Lisa and Renee’ Daniel Ott and his brother, Curtis Cooper. He also has seven Grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren of whom He loved dearly. Joe’s presence will be missed by so many especially by his family that he treasured.
Please join the Cooper Family for a Visitation in honor of Joseph Parker Cooper Sunday, December 22, 2019 between 4:00PM – 6:00PM at All Faiths of the Pines, Smithville, Texas. There will be a Memorial Service the following morning, Monday, December 23, 2019, beginning at 10:00AM at the First United Methodist Church located at 400 Olive Street, Smithville, Texas.
Joe’s presence will be missed by so many especially by his family that he treasured. He was a loving husband, great father and grandfather and trusted friend to so many. He was one of a kind and will forever be in our hearts.
